TEL AVIV - Every man who wears a kippa has become a target of the Shin Bet , says the father of one of the suspects arrested Tuesday area for trying to block highways by blowing up cars.

“I say this with great sorrow, very close to the Holocaust Memorial Day," he said. "Shin Bet acts like the Gestapo.”

The angry father continued: “They push, they hit, they act violently - all to intimidate these kids, who are good kids. They didn’t even let us have a word with them. I hope they are released soon.”

‘Valley of the shadow of death’

Tel Aviv police arrested the three youths in the Tel Aviv area Tuesday. All three are West Bank settlers. They were brought to the Ashkelon Magistrates Court later in the day.

At the courthouse, the three were greeted by fellow right-wing activists and family members with the honor and warmth reserved for war heroes; the court’s audience applauded and one friend quoted Psalm 23: “Even if you walk in the valley of the shadow of death, you shall not fear.”

The trio’s defense attorney, Uri Keinan, said he does not know the accusations against his clients.

“My clients deny all accusations. We will wait until the end of the deliberation and see how things develop,” he said.

In the closed-door court hearing, Shin Bet representatives claimed the three are dangerous; accordingly, the judge extended their remand by eight days.

A Tel Aviv Police source said cops caught the suspects replacing the license plates of two cars in Tel Aviv late Monday; the source added both cars were filled with mattresses soaked in gas.
