TEL AVIV - The Palestinian Authority must put an end to mortar attacks in the Gaza Strip at once in order to maintain the recent lull in violence, Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s special advisor Dov Weisglass told Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat Thursday evening. “If you don’t stop it (mortar fire) now, we’ll put an end to it,” Weisglass told Erekat during a meeting in Tel Aviv in the wake of the growing violence in Gaza. During the session, the two figures also discussed a possible meeting between Sharon and Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas. The two leaders have agreed to meet before but have not yet been able to set a date for the meeting.
