Mount Dov - Israel Air Force combat helicopters fired at areas in the Mount Dov region along the northern border on Thursday.

The areas targeted are suspected Hizbullah strongholds from where a Hizbullah cell infiltrated into Israel on Wednesday.

IDF corporal Uzi Peretz was killed, and four soldiers were wounded in Wednesday’s altercation with the terrorists.

The aerial attack is a continuation of an extensive military operation which the IDF is conducting in the region in an attempt to capture the Hizbullah terror cell members who are trying to make their way to Lebanon after entering Israel.

"This is an extensive operation, the likes of which have not been seen since our forces left Lebanon," said a senior IDF force.

Suspicions are growing in the IDF that the armed cell, three members of which are injured, were on their way to commit a "qualitative" terror attack.

It remains unclear whether the cell was intending on carrying out the attack itself, or to aid in its execution.

The IDF is not ruling out the possibility that the Hizbullah cell was intending to kidnap soldiers.

Throughout the operation the IDF has been in a high state of tension, due to the possibility that Hizbullah may renew shelling of the northern border. However, up until now, that scenario has not taken place.

The IDF believes that the terror group may not want to further escalate the situation on the Israeli-Lebanese border, and that orders have possibly been sent from Lebanon instructing Hizbullah members not to renew the shelling.
