Hamas terrorist killed in Gaza

Said Siam of Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, 30, responsible for mortars, rockets, settlement infiltrations

GAZA STRIP- IDF forces have killed a Hamas member in Khan Younis, Palestinian sources reported Sunday.

According to reports, an Israeli sniper shot Said Siam, 30, of the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas, from a building near the Ganei Tal settlement. The sniper hit Siam with his first shot, who was declared dead on the spot.

The IDF does not usually use snipers for targeted assassinations, especially recently.

Security officials said Siam was responsible for mortar fire, infiltrating settlements and digging weapons tunnels, and was responsible for a mortar that killed a woman in Neve Dekalim last September, and an underground bomb that killed an IDF soldier last June.

Hamas has taken responsibility for most of the mortar fire at Gush Katif and the western Negev over the weekend. The attacks originated in Khan Younis.

On Shabbat, several residents in Khan Younis clashed with Hamas members as they tried to fire mortars at Gush Katif. Several residents were injured during the clashses, and two teenagers were wounded from an IDF missile fired at a Qassam-firing cell.
