3 Qassams fired at Sderot; no injuries

‘Red Dawn’ warning system activated; some residents demand inclusion in Evacuation-Compensation Law, others put up ‘For Sale’ signs in front of homes in protest of continued attacks

SDEROT - Palestinian terrorists fired three Qassam rockets toward the Negev town of Sderot early Thursday.

The Qassams landed in open fields near Kibbutzim surrounding the town; no injuries or damage were reported.

Sderot’s “Red Dawn” warning system was activated, as security establishment officials have decided to keep the system on at nighttime in light of the recent Qassam attacks. Until recently the system was turned off at night so as not to stir panic among the residents.

The “Red Dawn” system is currently being installed in Ashkelon as well amid speculations that the threat of Qassam rocket fire toward the city would rise following the upcoming pullout from Gaza.

“I think the security establishment’s decision to activate the ‘Red Dawn’ system at night was justified, as people have no idea what situation we’re in, and the fear remains during the night,” a Sderot resident told Ynet.

Residents in a number of Sderot neighborhoods sent an official letter to the Disengagement Authority demanding to include Sderot in the Evacuation-Compensation Law, while others put up “For Sale” signs in front of their homes in protest of the continued attacks on the town, according to the resident.
