SDEROT – Two Qassam rockets landed Friday afternoon in open areas near the southern town of Sderot, which has been repeatedly targeted by Palestinian terrorists in recent weeks.

No injuries or damages were reported in the latest rocket strike, which prompted the activation of the “Red Dawn” rocket alert system.

Later, another Qassam rocket fired by Palestinian terrorists landed in a sunflower field near Sderot. No injuries were reported in that attack.

3 rockets fired Thursday night

Thursday night, three Qassam rockets landed in open areas in the Sderot region. No injuries or damages were reported in that barrage either.
In that incident, the “Red Dawn” system was also activated, in line with the new policy to use the siren at night as well.

In the last two weeks, security officials have decided to activate the system at night too, as a result of persistent rocket barrages. Previously, officials decided to refrain from using the alert system at night in order to avoid panic.

As recently reported by Ynet, the “Red Dawn” system is also being installed in the southern town of Ashkelon, north of Gaza, in order to address the apparently growing risk of Qassam rocket attacks expected after the upcoming pullout is completed.
