India's Assam on maximum alert after a spate of attacks India's northeastern state of Assam sounded a maximum security alert after Islamist terrorists engineered a series of explosions, blowing up oil and gas pipelines, power installations and railway tracks, killing four people, a news agency report said Monday.

 

"We have put army, police and paramilitary soldiers on high alert and the troops are conducting a massive hunt across the state to nab militants responsible for the serial blasts," Assam's Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi was quoted by the IANS news agency as saying. (Reuters)
