PA: Far right IDF troops may attack

Palestinian Interior Ministry says rightist IDF soldiers have already purchased traditional Arab clothes, obtained old cars used by many Palestinians in bid to launch attacks on Palestinian targets in territories

The Palestinian Interior Ministry has issued a statement Wednesday warning that the PA security establishment has obtained intelligence information regarding possible attempts by IDF troops to attack Palestinian targets.

Several far right soldiers have already purchased traditional Arab clothes and obtained old cars used by many Palestinians to this end, the statement, which was posted in a Palestinian newspaper, said.

Last week, far right activist and army deserter Eden Natan Zada opened fire aboard a bus in the Arab-Israeli town of Shfaram, killing four people.

'Murderous craving and extremism'

The ministry called on the Palestinian public to heighten its alert level due to fears of possible “crimes by Israeli (IDF) defectors from the far right against the Palestinian people.”

The statement said the Palestinians must be “aware of the murderous craving and extremism that is escalating in a dangerous and unprecedented manner among far-right settlers as the pullout nears.”

The Palestinian Interior Ministry said the Israeli government is fully responsible for crimes committed by settlers or deserting IDF soldiers and called on the international community to interfere and safeguard the safety of the Palestinians in the territories.
