Men prefer the light on; women...
Survey of Israeli sexual habits reveals interesting facts about Israeli preferences: Men prefer having sex with light on and eyes wide open. Women prefer doing it in dark with eyes closed. Most couples cite bedroom as number one location for sex. Surprise: Lots of women don’t want post-coital cuddle
More men than women prefer lovemaking with the lights on and their eyes wide open, according to one of several new surveys of Israeli sexual habits in advance of Tu B'Av, the holiday of love.
According to the survey's results:
- 27 percent of men and 9 percent of women prefer lovemaking with the light on.
- 64 percent men said they perform with their eyes wide open compared to 35 percent of women.
- 65 percent of women expressed a preference for a dark room, and 33 percent said they keep their eyes closed during sex.
“Sex is a man’s way of showcasing himself,” said urologist Dr. Nachum Zilber. “Israeli men see the sexual act as an act of conquest, of triumph. That is why they want to enjoy what they see. Women, however, see sex as an intimate act, which is why they prefer the lights out during lovemaking.”
Zilber said he also believes women tend to fantasize during sex, so “it is easier for them to reach orgasm with eyes shut.”
The nationwide Ohn Clinics commissioned the study of Israeli sexual habits, which was carried out by the PORI Institute. A total of 500 participants believed to be a cross section of the Israeli public took part in the survey at the end of July.
The study also investigated where Israelis prefer to do it: Most people cited the bedroom. However, more than 10 percent said they like to diversify and actually prefer the bathroom, the living room or kitchen. Another 7 percent claimed they have sex in every room.
And what happens when it’s all over?
Surprise: It turns out that most women, like men, aren’t interested in cuddling after sex is over.
- 32 percent of those asked said they shower afterwards
- 27 percent said they go to sleep.
- 17 percent said they hug their partners
- 13 percent go for the post-coital cigarette.
After the sexual appetite is sated, other appetites are aroused: 5 percent of those asked said they are starving or thirsty afterwards, and 3 percent said they feel a need to talk. Only 2 percent said they are ready for more.
