Shiekh threatens Arab revolt

Leader of Israel Islamic Movement warns mosques are being abused, says groundwork is being laid for Jewish attempt on al-Aqsa. "Whoever thinks he can kick us off our land better prepare a million coffins for Israeli Muslims."

Sheik Raad Salah, the leader of the Israeli Islamic Movement, told supporters Friday that continued attacks on mosques by Israeli Jews could lead to a mass revolt by Israeli Arabs.

Speaking at the Hassan Bek mosque in Jaffa a week after a pig's head was thrown into the holy site, Salah warned Israel his followers would not leave the country easily.

"Anyone who thinks they can get us to leave our land had better prepare a million coffins for Palestinians in this country," he said.

Israeli policy 'discriminatory'

Speaking at a press conference after Friday prayers, Salah also said the atmosphere in the country at the moment could lay the groundwork for a Jewish attempt to strike the al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem.

"That would be very dangerous," he said.

Salah also said the Islamic Movement was preparing a detailed report about attacks on Israeli Arabs and Muslim holy places "to show the religious discrimination we are suffering as a result of Israeli policy."

"The Israeli establishment continues to expropriate our land and our holy places that constitute a significant percentage of the area of this country.

Turning mosques into nightclubs

"The establishment would like to continue hurting us. The establishment has given a green light to turn more than 50 mosques and dozens of churches into nightclubs for druggies and hookers, and has given legitimacy to attacks on the rest of our holy places, like the one here at Hassan Bek."

He added, "Jewish terrorists carried out this act against Hassan Bek, but the Israeli establishment bears responsibility for the attack, and will bear responsibility for the fall out as well."

Salah added, "We are not weak and we will not be pursued. We are people with a homeland and a future here in Jaffa, in Umm el-Fahm, and everywhere else."

Zionists won't rest

"We were born in this land, and we will die in this land. From here we will meet Allah," he said.

He continued, "In 1948, 1,200 mosques were destroyed. We will never forget this number. In Tirat Hacarmel, Yavneh, Afula and other places, mosques were turned into synagogues as part of the attempt to erase our culture.

"The establishment is trying to get rid of al-Aqsa. The Zionists won't rest until there is an ugly attack (against it)."
