Palestinian Minister for Civilian Affairs Mohammed Dahlan has been hospitalized in Tel Aviv's Ichilov hospital since Friday.
Hospital officials said Dahlan is suffering from lower back pains and is staying in the medical center's orthopedic wing. The Palestinian minister is expected to be released Sunday, the officials said
In recent months, as Israel's departure from the Gaza Strip neared, Dahlan has represented the Palestinian side in talks with the heads of both Israeli and American political and security apparatus.
During the reign of the late Yasser Arafat, Dahlan criticized the Palestinian chairman, and was considered part of current leader Mahmoud Dahlan's "camp" within the Fatah faction.
Ichilov Hospital officials say this is not the first time senior Palestinian officials have received treatment at the hospital.
