The Palestinian Authority has been paying a monthly stipend to Jewish terror suspect Tali Fahima, charged with assisting terrorists and currently in prison, Channel 2 reported Thursday.

The payments were a result of a request submitted by al-Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigades’ terror leader Zakariya Zubeidi, Fahima’s friend.

According to the report, several months ago Zubeidi met with Palestinian Minister for Prisoner Affairs, Sufian Abu-Zaida. During the meeting, Zubeidi was apparently able to convince the minister to add Fahima to the list of Palestinian prisoners who get monthly payments from the PA

As a result, in the last four months Fahima received hundreds of shekels every month from the PA.

Attorney denies reports

The money transfers were discovered after a Prison Service decision to make a distinction between the approximately 5,000 Palestinian
security prisoners and the 220 Israeli security prisoners, most of them Israeli Arabs.

Before the decision, the prisoners served their sentences together and the money received from the Palestinian Authority was deposited into the account of a prisoner leader, who would distribute it to the detainees. An examination then revealed that Israeli prisoners would also get some of the funds and that Fahima received money from the Palestinian Authority.

Notably, prisoners have special accounts in prison that allow them to purchase various products such as cigarettes and sweets.

Fahima’s attorney, Smadar Ben-Natan, told Ynet: “No funds were transferred to Fahima, at least not with her knowledge and consent.”
