How exactly did stickers portraying a doll with a bomb belt reach a toy store near the Israeli town of Modiin?
Stickers, purchased for NIS 7.90 (about USD 1.50) at the Shilat Moshav near Modiin, were sold to young children without them knowing they were playing with "martyrs" with golden hair and a bomb belt.
The sticker, with a yellow background, is surrounded by several fake images resembling the famous Barbie doll.
The sheet of stickers
While the other images are dressed with the usual fashionable clothes, bags and small puppy, two "Suicide Dolls" can be seen with bomb belts around their waists and a detonator switch in their hands.
One of them is even holding a bag containing nails and explosive materials.
"We walked into the store to buy our daughter a gift after she behaved herself at the doctor," Noa, mother to a four-year-old daughter, said. "She looked around and chose the stickers. My husband, who was with her at the time, did not notice what she had chosen."
"At home, she began sticking the stickers on a page when I noticed what it was. I first thought I was mistaken, it didn't seem logical. My husband and I were both shocked; we could not believe what we saw."
Supplier: We must have missed this
Store owner Carlos Allaluf told Ynet he did not know the stickers existed.
"I didn't have a clue that the stickers even existed," he said. "The several sheets of stickers were immediately pulled of the shelves. We didn't receive any complaints or responses in regard to the stickers."
Toy supplier Shuki Toys, responsible for the distribution of the stickers, said in response, "We were very surprised to see the stickers in the shop, the several sheets of stickers have been pulled of the shelves."
"We check all the stickers, thousands of them. We must have missed these ones. If we would have seen the stickers earlier, obviously we would not have distributed them. The stickers were only distributed to the one store."
