Central Bureau of Statistics: 52 percent of Israelis optimistic about their future, 47 percent happy with present economic situation, 80 percent content with their jobs

About 82 percent of Israeli adults are either satisfied or very satisfied with their lives, a Central Bureau of Statistics survey shows.

While 52 percent of respondents said they are optimistic about their future and believe their lives will improve in the near future, 27 percent estimate their situation will remain unchanged. Another, 11 percent said their situation will worsen.

The survey also revealed 47 percent of Israelis are pleased with their economic situation. Meanwhile, 41 percent said they believe their situation will improve in the next few years, 32 percent felt their situation will not change and 16 percent said their situation will worsen.

About 80 percent of employed respondents said are satisfied or very satisfied with their jobs. Within the Jewish population, 82 percent are happy, in comparison to 72 percent in the Arab sector.

Education the key to happiness?

While 15 percent fear they may lose their place of work in the coming year, 40 percent estimate that should they lose their job, they have a good or very good chance of finding a similar paying position. Only 3 percent said they would not look for another job.

According to the survey, the level of satisfaction among youngsters is higher than adults, and higher among single and married citizens, in comparison to divorcees and widows.

The survey also revealed a correlation between education and one's satisfaction with life - the lower the level of education, the less satisfied one tended to be.
