‘Sharon destruction’ museum planned

Thousands of right-wing activists expected to attend Jerusalem conference Wednesday called to 'denounce the criminals of the disengagement.' During event, honorary certificates to be granted to 'heroes of pullout,' documentary to be screened and launching of disengagement museum to be announced

Thousands disengagement foes are expected to assemble for a conference in Jerusalem Wednesday to "denounce the criminals of the eviction." During the event, organizers will also announce the establishment of a "Sharon destruction" museum.

Organized by right-wing groups and SOS Israel under the banner "We shall not forgive nor forget," the conference will be broadcast live to New York, Paris and London.

Organizers of the event told Ynet they plan to grant 1,500 honorary certificates to those "arrested during the disengagement and who acted against the expulsion of Jews," claiming they deserved to be designated as "heroes of Israel."

Those to be honored include IDF soldiers, as well as the rabbi of the Gaza Division’s Northern Brigade Amital Barel, who called on soldiers to refuse orders at the Kissufim roadblock before the pullout.

A new documentary about the disengagement entitled "The Evicted" will be screened during the conference. The movie depicts the evacuation of the settlers from their houses, and the Qassam and mortar attacks on Sderot and the southern community of Nativ Ha'asara which followed.

Organizers said the movie features those responsible for the pullout, including Prime Minister Ariel Sharon, Defense Minister Shaul Mofaz, Finance Minister Ehud Olmert, and ultra-Orthodox MK Yakov Litzman. Other prominent IDF officials are also mentioned in the documentary, as well as Chief Justice Aharon Barak.

Museum of destruction

During the conference, which will be hosted by the spokesman for the Jewish Community in Hebron, Noam Arnon, the organizers intend to officially announce the establishment of the "Sharon destruction" museum," dedicated to former residents of Gush Katif and northern Samaria.

The museum is expected to be completed before the first anniversary of the evacuation.

The organizers said the purpose of the museum is to display the "ruin and destruction" caused by the disengagement, by exhibiting photographs from Gush Katif and northern Samaria before the pullout, as well as pictures from the disengagement itself, and by bringing teenagers and school children to visit the venue.
