Jewish genealogy events: January-February

Everyone’s searching for their roots, and during January and early February, genealogy events are set in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Ra’anana, Beer Sheva and Netanya

Everyone’s searching for their roots, and during January and early February, genealogy events are set in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Ra’anana, Beer Sheva and Netanya.

 

Plan ahead with information on events, including a February 8 appearance by one of Jewish genealogy’s noted experts, author/genealogist Dr. Neil Rosenstein of New Jersey, U.S., who will discuss his next book on the legendary and historical facts concerning Saul Wahl, the Polish King for a Day in 1586.

 

He will speak at JFRA Israel’s Ra’anana branch, and reservations are recommended.

Summer events also include the first-ever historic gathering in June for descendants of the Royal House of David in Jerusalem, and Jewish genealogy’s main event, the 26th International Conference on Jewish Genealogy, set for August in New York City.

Rasco describes an excruciating 20-year journey sifting through the murk of the Holocaust to find information on her grandfather's family. Her experience could help others trace their families and avoid many pitfalls.

Prof. Moshe Faraggi: "The Alliance Israelite Universelle Schools in Volos and Larissa, Greece and Elia Raphael Faraggi."

 

Faraggi has documented his great-grandfather, Eli Raphael Faraggi, as the creative driving force behind the Alliance schools in Volos and Larissa, Greece. The Volos school was the first Alliance school of the Ottoman Empire Judeo-Espagnol communities. Faraggi is a chemist who has taught at Ben Gurion University, US, French and Canadian universities.
