IDF on Palestinian claims: Hawara checkpoint closed due to warnings
None
The IDF, responding to claims by Palestinians on the closure of the Hawara checkpoint south of Nablus, said that the checkpoint was closed due to warnings about plans on harming soldiers positioned at the location.
According to the IDF, soldiers opened the checkpoint this evening as an exception after a long line of Palestinians who waited at the location formed. Palestinians claimed that thousands waited in the cold due to the closure of the checkpoint and that soldiers announced over speakers that the closure was a punishment. (Efrat Weiss)
