Islamic groups protest plan to launch Indonesian Playboy

Indonesian Muslims reacted angrily Friday to a purported plan by Playboy to launch a
local version of its magazine in the world's most populous Muslim nation. Indonesian businessman Avianto Nugroho claimed he had secured the license to publish the magazine.
He said it would be launched in March and - like a toned down version of the racy magazine the company plans to launch soon in India - it would not contain nude photos. Lauren Melone, a Playboy spokeswoman in the United States, said: "Indonesia is a dynamic and exciting market. If we do ever launch a magazine in Indonesia it will reflect the local culture and taste of the marketplace, as do all our existing international editions of the magazine.
