Hamas flooding U.S. media outlets

Top terror group officials post opinion pieces in two major American publications regularly

WASHINGTON - The United States has accused Mousa Abu Marzouk, Hamas’ deputy political bureau chief, of raising funds for his organization’s terror-related activities.

However, this does not prevent the Washington Post from permitting him to voice his opinions in the newspaper on a regular basis.

The Los Angeles Times, one of America’s most prominent publications, has opened its opinion page to another senior Hamas member, Khaled Mashal.

The two submit their articles from the same office in Damascus, but their form of writing is different. Mashal writes like a common Middle East terrorist, while Abu Marzouk, who was educated in the U.S., is a bit more sophisticated in his approach. But the bottom line is the same: There is no recognition of the State of Israel, and the terror against Israel will not cease.

In his Washington Post article, Abu Marzouk writes, “for meaningful dialogue to occur there should be no prejudgments or preconditions. And we do desire dialogue. The terms of the dialogue should be premised on justice, mutual respect and integrity of the parties. For meaningful dialogue to occur there should be no prejudgments or preconditions. And we do desire dialogue. The terms of the dialogue should be premised on justice, mutual respect and integrity of the parties.”

'Hamas is extending a hand of peace'

Mashal, for his part, writes in his LA Times piece, “our message to the Israelis is this: We do not fight you because you belong to a certain faith or culture. Jews have lived in the Muslim world for 13 centuries in peace and harmony; they are in our religion 'the people of the book' who have a covenant from God and his messenger, Muhammad (peace be upon him), to be respected and protected."

”Our conflict with you is not religious but political. We have no problem with Jews who have not attacked us — our problem is with those who came to our land, imposed themselves on us by force, destroyed our society and banished our people,” he adds.

”We shall never recognize the right of any power to rob us of our land and deny us our national rights. We shall never recognize the legitimacy of a Zionist state created on our soil in order to atone for somebody else's sins or solve somebody else's problem. But if you are willing to accept the principle of a long-term truce, we are prepared to negotiate the terms. Hamas is extending a hand of peace to those who are truly interested in a peace based on justice.”
