Just before 10 in the morning, 23 year-old Ahmed Kafina, from the village of Sawiya near Nablus, boarded a minibus taxi in Petah-Tikva, east of Tel Aviv. When the taxi reached a junction in the city, the terrorist pulled out a knife and began stabbing passengers.

MDA Director-General Eli Bin said the murder victim, a woman of about 60, sustained numerous stab wounds in her chest and abdomen.

Sharon Region Police Commander Menashe Arviv estimated the terrorist is not affiliated with any terror groups and acted independently.

"We know such incidents from Jerusalem and Tel Aviv," Arviv said.

Minibus passenger Uriel Noirberger, 27, told Ynet: "I was sitting at the front and suddenly heard screams. I saw the terrorist, who was at the back, attempting to stab a guy, with no shame or fear."

"I yelled to the driver: 'Terrorist,' and other people yelled at him to open the door. He stopped, and most passengers got off…the terrorist stayed inside and I didn't understand why. Then I realized he murdered a woman," Noiberger said.

Terrorist apprehended after stabbing attack

Danny, a resident of Holon who happened to be in the area at the time of the attack, recounted the dramatic incident in a talk with Ynet: "We saw people falling down, people being stabbed, a stabbed older lady and next to her a guy lying down."

"We heard people yelling 'terrorist terrorist,' it's the scariest thing," Danny said. "I saw an Arab and a guy aiming a gun at him. Another guy grabbed a wooden plank and hit him (the terrorist) in the head. I jumped on him and we started beating him badly. He didn't say a word."

'Stab victim asked for help'

The man who hit the terrorist with the plank is Eli Haziza, who works at a nearby plant.

"I saw a man running to the guard at the plant's entrance. He was stabbed in the chest," Haziza said. "He asked for help and said a terrorist was stabbing people on the street."

"I ran to the road and saw a terrorist going wild with a knife," Haziza added. "I saw the terrorist with the knife and a man aiming a gun at him. I didn't hesitate, walked over to the fence, pulled out a plank, approached the terrorist and hit him hard."

"The terrorist collapsed on the road and we immediately jumped on him," Haziza said.

Magen David Adom ambulance service officials said the assailant boarded the minibus on Jabotinsky Street in Petach Tikva shortly before 10 a.m. and rode it for a while before attacking the passengers.

The stabbing attack occurred near Petach Tikva's Beilinson hospital, enabling paramedics to rush victims to the medical center quickly.

A military court extended Kafina's custody by nine days.
