Likud presents: Olmert's 'lethal money'

Online campaign video slams acting prime minister over fund transfer to PA

A Likud online campaign video released Wednesday on various local websites slams Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert for transferring funds to the Palestinian Authority despite Hamas' election victory.

Likud's new video

The new video is titled "lethal money," but as opposed to an Israeli soap opera by the same name from the 1990s, this time around Acting PM Olmert plays the starring role.

"The video visually expresses our objection to the fund transfer to Hamas, because it's clear the money will be used for the purpose of terror and incitement against the State of Israel," Likud Knesset Member Gideon Sa'ar said.

In the menacing video, the Likud notes that On February 5th, Olmert decided to transfer NIS 250 million to the Hamas.

"Guess what Hamas will do with the money?" a caption reads, followed by images of a rally featuring armed Hamas members.

Will Hamas win help Likud?

Sa'ar noted the Likud attaches great importance to the Internet as it prepares its election campaign.

"We're talking about an important medium we can use to reach our constituency," he said. The party apparently intends to distributed additional online videos in the coming month.

The Likud is well aware that Hamas' stunning election victory renewed the public debate over security issues and allowed the party to argue that only Chairman Benjamin Netanyahu has the ability and experience to face the new challenges.

Accordingly, the party recently changed is faltering campaign slogan to a more powerful one: "Strong against Hamas – Benjamin Netanyahu."
