The Palestinians on Sunday reported that IDF soldiers shot dead two Palestinian teenagers, residents of the Balata refugee camp, after the two hurled stones at the troops.

The army has been operating in the camp since Saturday night. During the operation, a number of Palestinians were detained and a house was demolished.

Paratroopers and soldiers of a special elite unit entered the refugee camp on Saturday night as part of the "Northern Lights" operation against terror infrastructures.

Following the large number of security warnings, the IDF launched an operation against terror infrastructures of the Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and Fatah. The operation is expected to last for a number of days.

During the operation, Palestinians hurled explosive devices and opened fire at the soldiers a number of times. The Palestinians also threw Molotov cocktails and stones at the forces. There were no injuries in all incidents.

The soldiers spotted a number of armed Palestinians during the operations. They shot at them and hit four gunmen, who were taken to a Nablus hospital by the Red Crescent. A wanted Fatah member was detained and taken into interrogation.

On Sunday morning, security forces detained a Palestinian youth who arrived at the Salem checkpoint and aroused the soldiers' suspicion. The soldiers searched him and discovered that he was carrying two knives.

The boy was taken into interrogation by security forces and the knives were confiscated.
