Palestinian medical sources reported that an IDF sniper shot a 15-year-old Palestinian to death Thursday night and injured another person during an operation at the al-Ain refugee camp in the West Bank city of Nablus.

According to the report, the youth, Amer Bassyouni, was shot in his neck and died from his wounds. Palestinian security personnel reported that the unarmed teen was seen wandering outside his house while the forces raided the refugee camp.

IDF officials said that during the army's operation in Nablus, soldiers spotted an armed Palestinian, fired at him and hit him. In addition, the troops fired at another Palestinian who was hurling an explosive device at them and hit him.

It is unclear which of the two Palestinian who were hurt died from his wounds.

The army also reported that in another operation aimed at detaining wanted Palestinians in the West Bank town of Tul Karem, an armed Palestinians opened fire at the soldiers. The troops fired back and hit him. There were no reports on his condition.

Wide-scale operation

In the past few weeks, the IDF has been operating in Nablus. A wide-scale operation was launched in the Balata refugee camp about two weeks ago, in which five Palestinians were killed.

Among those killed was a senior wanted Palestinian, Hammouda Shatiwi, head of the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades leadership in Nablus and one of the operation's main targets. Two other wanted Palestinians were also killed.

The al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades carried out two shooting attacks in the West Bank in response to Shitawi's death. Eldad Abir, 45, from the settlement of Migdalim, was killed in one of the attacks.
