Defense technology firm VSI, the American subsidiary of Israel’s Elbit Systems, has been contracted by the American Lockheed Martin Corporation for its new battle helmets (HMDs).
Lockheed Martin is the chief aircraft manufacturer for the U.S. Army. In 2003, VSI received an order worth USD 84.6 million to design and manufacture new helmets for Lockheed's new F-35 jet.
On Monday, Lockheed expanded its order to total USD 156 million after it decided to provide the HMD helmet for all of its F-35 customers in America and abroad.
Advanced military technology
VSI’s battle helmets are the some of world’s most advanced in military technology. The flight headgear allows pilots to see all of the plane’s systems and flight data and was specially developed for the Lockheed jets to be used in combat situations.
VSI is registered and operates in California and is jointly and equally owned by Elbit Systems and U.S. corporation Rockwell Collins.
