More Qassams fired from Gaza

Terrorists fire at least three rockets at western Negev in wake of boosted IDF activity in Gaza; no injuries or damage reported

While the IDF continues its operation to eliminate Qassam terror cells, at least three rockets were fired by Palestinians from the Gaza Strip Sunday evening.

Two rockets were launched around 7 p.m. toward the western Negev. Earlier, a Qassam rocket landed in an open area inside an Israeli community. There were no reports of injuries or damage in both incidents.

The army launched a wide-scale attack against Qassam launching sites over the weekend, while the Israel Air Force targeted terrorists' training facilities. At least 15 Palestinians were killed in the IAF strikes, most of them gunmen.

Palestinian sources in the Gaza Strip reported that a mattress factory in the northern Gaza Strip town of Beit Lahiya was burned as a result of a shell fired by an IDF tank. There were no reports of injuries.

On Saturday night, a Palestinian was wounded after a shell hit a plastics factory in the area.

On Sunday morning, both the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades and the Abu-Reish Brigades announced they would continue firing rockets at Israel. A spokesman for the Abu-Reish brigades also said that the group plans on renewing suicide bombings against Israel.

The al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades declared a "top alert" among its members and instructed all activists to increase rocket strikes.

Senior Islamic Jihad figure Khaled al-Batash denied reports that the organization has decided to cease its Qassam attacks on Israel for one week. Al-Batash said that the group had no connection to statements made earlier by an al-Quds Brigades official, who said the Jihad's military wing intends to halt rocket fire.

The IDF's operation over the weekend and consequent threats of retaliation by terror organizations have brought the number of terror warnings ahead of Pesach this year up compared to previous years, causing police to boost their alert to the highest level.

Internal Security Minister Gideon Ezra said: "Over the weekend, 15 Palestinians were killed. In such situations there are those who want to retaliate, and we have to prepare accordingly. The preparations are carried out on the seam line, in areas unprotected by the security fence, in places where large crowds are expected to gather, and by way of acting against illegal aliens."
