A Palestinian-Lebanese cell that plotted to assassinate Hizbullah Chief Hassan Nasrallah was exposed in Lebanon last week, the local A-Safir newspaper reported on Monday.

According to the report, the cell, which included 10 members, followed Nasrallah on several occasions during the month of March and the beginning of April as the Hizbullah leader was making his way to “National Dialogue” deliberations in Beirut.

The cell devised a detailed plan to carry out the assassination, codenamed “No Mistakes,” and even set a date for the attack.

Lebanese army intelligence was able to foil the assassination, which was supposed to take place during the next “National Dialogue” session, by arresting the cell members, all of whom are of Lebanese and Palestinian origin.

The members were in possession of a LAW missile, which is capable of penetrating any armored vehicle, and other weapons at the time of the arrest.

A-Safir reported the cell members were well-trained and used several rented cars to follow Nasrallah especially near Hizbullah headquarters in south Beirut.

The cell leaders even considered renting a store near the headquarters to remain inconspicuous. However, intelligence officers became
suspicious of some cell members who began to regularly pursue Nasrallah’s convoy. Agents proceeded to raid the cell members’ homes, arrest them and interrogate them at the Lebanese Foreign Ministry.

During searches conducted at the members’ homes agents found a LAW missile, grenades, Kalashnikov rifles, silencers, artillery shells, pistols, computers and more.
