Hamas wins student union elections at Bir Zeit University

Hamas won on Wednesday Student Union elections at Bir Zeit University in Ramallah, the largest university in the Palestinian territories. The party won 23 seats to Fatah’s 18 seats.
In the territories Hamas’ win is seen as an encouraging sign to the party indicating continuing support in Palestinian popular opinion despite the heavy international pressure since Hamas took office. (Ali Waked)
