Terror attack thwarted on Holocaust Day
Security forces nab would-be bomber and his collaborators with 6-kg bomb north of Nablus on Tuesday on way to carry out attack inside Israel
It was released for publication Wednesday that security forces nabbed three Palestinians on Tuesday – an intended suicide bomber and his collaborators, in Ein Bian north of Nablus.
Forces made the arrests after receiving warnings about a plan to dispatch a suicide bomber from the Nablus area to carry out an attack inside Israel. The three were caught with a bag containing six kilos (about 13 lbs) of explosives.
On the eve of Holocaust Memorial Day, another terror attack was thwarted when IDF forces caught a Palestinian man who was planning to carry out an attack inside Israel. The man was nabbed near the Adam settlement north of Jerusalem. A security source told Ynet: “An attack was prevented on Holocaust Day or the day following.” The suspect was held for questioning.
Military operations ongoing since Purim
After receiving specific warnings of a terror plan on Monday night, security forces set up numerous roadblocks in the Binyamin area and around Jerusalem on Road 443 (the Jerusalem-Modi’in highway). Every car was checked individually, which caused severe traffic jams.
The heightened alert, however, paid off in the end. In the afternoon, forces detected a suspicious taxi near the settlement of Adam north of Jerusalem. Inside the taxi soldiers found a Palestinian who was planning to carry out a suicide bomb attack. Sappers were called to check the taxi, and the man was arrested.
Meanwhile, as security forces were on heightened alert, IDF activities in Nablus and northern Samaria continued, in an effort to raid terror cells planning attacks against Israel. The military operations have been ongoing since the Purim holiday in early March.
