Israelis finally able to buy larger milk cartons
Milk revolution? Local diary goods producer Tara is offering for the first time in Israel fresh milk in 2-liter carton boxes with a shelf life of 28 days.
The new product line is replacing the 2-liter plastic bottles and offers a long expiry date of four weeks, thanks to new carton packaging that guarantees sterility throughout production.
In addition, Tara is marketing 1 percent fat milk in 2-liter cartons, fortified with calcium and vitamin D, and fresh 3 percent fat milk in new and convenient packaging.
Ramit Virsberg Ronen, a Tara manager, said that "Tara decided to launch for the first time milk in 2-liter carton boxes as part of its identification of the costumers' need for convenient packaging – families with high milk consumption as opposed to young people whose weekly milk consumption is relatively low."
A 2-liter carton box of 3 percent fat milk will be sold at NIS 10.42 (roughly USD 2.2), while 2-liter cartons of 1 percent calcium fortified milk will be sold for NIS 12.90.
