Egypt: Palestinians aided Sinai bombers

Egyptian officials claim two Palestinians funded, helped train terrorists group responsible for Sinai attacks
Associated Press |
Egyptian Authorities said Tuesday two Palestinians had helped fund and train members of an Egyptian terrorist group blamed for bombings in Sinai.
An Interior Ministry statement said a Palestinian who it named as Abu Suleiman provided the Egyptian group with money. Another Palestinian, identified by the statement as Maged al-Deri, trained members of the group in the use of explosives and firearms. The training took place in the Gaza Strip.
It was the first time that Egypt publicly linked the Sinai bombings, which killed and injured scores and targeted tourist installations, to Palestinians in the Gaza strip, which borders Sinai.
The Sinai bombings, which took place on April 24 in the resort town of Dahab, claimed the lives of 24 people and left about 100 wounded.
The Egyptian security forces launched a large-scale operation to hunt down the perpetrators shortly after the attack. Some of the suspects arrested by the police were Sinai Bedouins.
