West Bank: Civilian injured, 2 soldiers hurt

Israeli civilian wounded by Palestinian gunfire near Ofra settlement. In Jenin operation two troops sustain light to moderate injuries after Palestinians throw explosive device at their Jeep

An Israeli civilian was lightly wounded when Palestinian gunmen fired at his vehicle as he was driving north of the Ofra settlement. He was given medical treatment on the spot.

 

IDF forces and police searched the area for the perpetrators.

 

Meanwhile, two IDF soldiers were wounded Wednesday night when an explosive device was hurled at the jeep they were driving through the West Bank town of Jenin. The troops sustained light to moderate wounds and were evacuated to the Haemek Hospital in Afula.

 

The incident took place during an arrest raid carried town. Palestinians threw three explosive devices at a convoy of military vehicles, and one of the bombs hit an army jeep. Two of the soldiers in the vehicle were wounded, while another two escaped unharmed. Sappers were summoned to the scene to inspect the bombs.

 

The al-Quds Brigades, Islamic Jihad's military wing, claimed responsibility for the attack. According to a group operative, two devices were thrown at the forces, one weighing about 70 kilograms, and another smaller device.

 

During the Jenin operation, army forces arrested three Islamic Jihad fugitives. A Kalashnikov rifle was uncovered at the house of one of the suspects.

 

In addition, overnight IDF forces arrested nine wanted Palestinian terror suspects across the West Bank.

 

Two Hamas operatives and two Fatah members were arrested in Ramallah. A Tanzim activist and four Hamas operatives were arrested in Bethlehem.
