According to the Israel Prison Service, the most popular book among prisoners is Harry Poter. Dan Brown's Da Vinci's Code came second.
Another interesting fact: Violent prisoners from the former Soviet republics read the most.
Israel Prison Service maintains 17 libraries that include 25,000 books in Hebrew, English, Arab and Russian.
All in all, the prisoners borrow an estimated 2,000 books per week, while each prisoner is permitted to borrow two books at once. There are 12,000 criminal prisoners in Israel, 20 percent of them visit the library at least once a week.
