Israeli point guard and NBA hopeful Yotam Halperin held a workout Thursday with the Washington Wizards attended by the team's professional staff and its president, Ernie Grunfeld.

Halperin's agent, Jason Levine, said that the workout went well and that if the Israeli player continues in his current ability, he stands a good chance of being picked on the June 28 NBA Draft.

The talented point guard's next stop is Arizona, where he is set to work out with the Phoenix Suns and hopefully leave a good impression on the team's managers and coaches.

Speaking about his experience in Washington, Halperin sounded enthusiastic.

“It was great. This was my first workout, so I was a little bit nervous in the beginning," Halperin said. "We worked hard and we practiced hard. I think I did really well and now I have to focus on the next workout. This Saturday I am going to Phoenix, then immediately after that to Indiana and then to Seattle or Dallas.”

'Main goal is to play in NBA next season'

Referring to the feedbacks he received from NBA personnel, he said: “I just met everyone here. I just came from the Jerusalem camp where there are also NBA coaches. Everybody is so nice and very patient with you because they know you are a little bit tense with it being your first time here."

"My main goal is to play in the NBA next season and I’m going to do everything I can to make it happen. If it works out I am going to
be very happy. If not, I will keep working," he stated.

According to Halperin, he is enjoying much support in Israel: “Most of the people are giving me good feedbacks- 'good luck,' stuff like that. They wish me a lot of luck. Not so many Israeli players get the opportunity to play in the NBA. I am one of them and I am glad I have this opportunity - I'm going to do the best that I can.”
