EMC acquires another Israeli start-up

After buying nLayers for USD 50 million, world's largest computer storage company buys privately held software maker ProActivity Software Solutions Ltd.

EMC Corp., the world's largest computer storage company, said on Monday it has bought privately held business software maker ProActivity Software Solutions Ltd.

 

ProActivity's corporate headquarters are located in Newton, Massachusetts, but its research and development center is in Netanya.

 

Financial terms were not disclosed, though EMC said the acquisition would not have a material impact on its 2006 results.

 

ProActivity is a provider of next-generation Business Process Analysis (BPA) and design solutions; among the company's clients: Phillips, Kodak, the US Army and Bank of America.

 

EMC, which is best known for data-storage hardware, has spent USD 4.7 billion on 20 acquisitions over the past three years. It recently purchased Israeli software company nLayers for USD 50 million in cash.

 

The Hopkinton, Massachusetts, company is looking to diversify its business by boosting sales of computer software as well as information-technology services.
