EU praises Palestinians for political agreement

The EU praised a political agreement between Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and the governing Hamas movement on Tuesday but said it was only a start and that more was needed, including a renunciation of violence.

The 25-nation bloc's executive European Commission said the accord should ease tensions among Palestinian factions that has threatened stability in the region. (Reuters)
