Likud MK Silvan Shalom said Israel should press world power to force Syria to evict Hamas politburo Khaled Mashaal from its territory. Mashaal has been largely blamed for obstructing negotiations for the release of Gilad Shalit, the soldier abducted on Sunday near Gaza.
Shalom said beyond rescuing Shalit, the IDF's operation in Gaza should deal a blow to terrorist groups responsible for Qassam attacks against Sderot. (Ronny Sofer)
