VIDEO - IDF soldiers discovered early Thursday the body of 18-year-old Itamar settler Eliyahu Asheri in Ramallah’s Tira neighborhood. At around 5 a.m. Itamar settlement spokesman Rabbi Avi Ronsky informed the teen's parents that their son's body was found. Asheri was kidnapped earlier in the week by Popular Resistance Committees members and was apparently murdered on Sunday. A large Shin Bet and IDF force arrived at the neighborhood overnight and discovered Asheri’s body in a field covered in dirt. The body was transferred by ambulance to the Ofer army base for identification by Shai District Police forensics experts, and was later transferred to the Abu Kabir Forensics Institute in Tel Aviv. 'Let the Israelis find out for themselves' Wednesday’s arrest and interrogation of a senior Fatah member suspected of murdering Asheri led security forces to the body. The investigation revealed that the teen was shot in his head from short range. A spokesman for the Popular Resistance Committees said following the body’s recovery, “let the Israelis find out for themselves if it is Asheri’s body or not,” he said. “We will not disclose any information for free.” On Wednesday The Popular Resistance Committees presented for the first time a picture of Asheri's identity card. The organization's spokesman gave reporters identifying details on Asheri, including his date of birth, his ID card number and his parents' name. He even gave the youth's middle name, Pinchas, which was not published on the Israeli media. Meanwhile, in a swift operation carried out throughout the West Bank and the Jerusalem area Israeli forces apprehended some 60 Hamas government ministers, parliament members and activists in what appears to be an attempt to “decapitate” the organization’s leadership.
