The Economist puts Tel Aviv on map

Leading business magazine issues guide for businessmen visiting Tel Aviv

The Economist magazine has issued a city guide for Tel Aviv, placing the financial heart of Israel among 25 major business hubs across the globe.

The Economist said Israel's economy has recovered from the recession it suffered with the outbreak of the second intifada and is well on course for sustained growth.

But the magazine warned that the latest violence in Gaza could have a negative impact on the economy.

The new Tel Aviv guide advises visiting businessmen to avoid political conversations, to not hesitate to speak in-your-face, to dress casually, to remember that business ends at 5 p.m., and that Saturday, and not Sunday, is holiday day.

The magazine recommends Lekhem Erez, "and particularly" Comme Il Faut, for breakfast. 2C, Mul Yam, and Orca, are listed as the top three restaurants in the city.

The guide includes advice on Tel Aviv's nightlife scene, and describes the tense security situation as a special Tel Avivi experience.
