US's Rice intends to visit Mideast, spokesman says

U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice intends to travel to the Middle East to help calm tensions in a region where Israel has been bombarding Lebanon for days and the terrorist group Hizbollah has been firing rockets into the Jewish state.

"At some point in the future, the secretary intends to travel to the region," State Department spokesman Sean McCormack told reporters. (Reuters)
