President Jacques Chirac said Friday that France will press for the rapid adoption of a U.N. Security
Council resolution calling for an immediate cease-fire in Lebanon, his office said.
The statement from Chirac's office cited the "deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Lebanon." (AP)
