Rally: Hizbullah is only a liberation movement

Activists protest 'against bombs and massacres' following Qana village strike that left dozens of civilians killed; protesters blame Israeli occupation. Other demonstrations across county expected

Around 200 protesters marched in Nazareth on Sunday and demonstrated against the IDF bombing in Qana, southern Lebanon, in which over 50 people were killed.

The Secretary of the Communist Party in Nazareth, Zahar Bolous said: "The primary guilt in the war lies with the occupation, and when I say occupation I also mean the Golan Heights and the Shebaa Farms. The Israeli government is responsible for the occupation and for everything that is happening. Hizbullah is only a liberation movement."

Bolous said this was the reason why residents of Nazareth did not protest in the streets when Israeli civilians were killed the war.

The demonstration was also attended by Hadash party activists and members of the city's Communist party, as well as mayor Ramaz Jeraisy.

'End the occupation'

Demonstrators carried signs saying, "We won't die and won't kill in the service of the United States." They waved red flags of the Communist party with the slogans "Only peace will bring security," and "End the occupation."

Other demonstrators are expected to take place in villages in the Galilee and the Negev. A large rally is expected in Haifa.

At the head of the march, protesters carried a coffin covered in black. "We set out to protest today against the bombs and the massacre that took place in Qana village. We point our finger at Olmert and Peretz and the Israeli government," said the secretary of the Communist party. "The Israeli government is responsible for the situation," he added.
