Sigh of relief: IDF Chief of Staff Dan Halutz was released from hospital Monday after receiving a clean bill of health following a series of tests.
"The army chief was released from hospital without any problems. No heart problems and no stomach problems," Ichilov Hospital Director Prof. Gabi Barabash said, dispelling rumors about Halutz' condition. "All tests we ran were good. Apparently we're dealing with a temporary infection."
The army chief arrived at the hospital at 10 a.m. Monday and underwent several stomach tests in an effort to identify the source of the stomachache he complained about in recent days. Halutz also underwent blood tests during the day.
Following the tests, the hospital said all was well with the chief of staff and that Halutz's condition was "much better." The army chief then received the go-ahead to return to work. The hospital said his stomachaches were subsiding and that the doctors are still recommending he eat regular meals and take antacids.
On Friday, Halutz arrived at the Tel Aviv hospital complaining of stomachaches. Tests performed at that time did not discover anything out of order and the army chief was sent home to rest. On Sunday, Halutz again returned to the hospital for some tests.
The IDF said in a statement that Halutz "continues to run army affairs as usual and at this time no unusual medical findings were discovered in the tests."
