2 Islamic Jihad operatives killed in Jenin

For first time in months, IDF helicopter shoots missile in Jenin. Shots fired at home containing Islamic Jihad cell responsible for suicide bombings in Israel

Two Islamic Jihad operatives were killed Wednesday morning when an IDF helicopter launched at least one missile at house in a Jenin refugee camp, in which they were hiding out. IDF sources confirmed the attack.

According to Palestinian sources, an Apache helicopter fired a missile at the home housing operatives in al-Quds – the military wing of Islamic Jihad – some of whom are members of the Islamic Jihad branch in the northern West Bank.

This branch of the movement is responsible for a number of terror attacks that took place in Israel after the hudna agreement in March of last year. According to Israeli sources, members of the branch receive instructions directly from IJ headquarters in Damascus.

The two men killed today were identified as Amjed Attili, 24, from Attil near Tul Karem, and Muhammad Attik, 26, from Burqin, near Jenin. Attili was a dominant member in the cell of Luay al Sadi, the commander of the Islamic Jihad in the West Bank, who was directly responsible for several terror attacks in Israel.

A number of additional IJ members were in the house that was attacked but their condition is not known. This is the first time in many months that the IDF has executed a pinpoint aerial strike in the Jenin area.

Israel security forces have long waged a battle against this particular cell who, as aforementioned, has managed to execute a number of terror attacks despite Israel's efforts.
