Annan: Lebanon war should divert attention from Palestinian problem
United Nations Secertary-General Kofi Annan told Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas during a meeting in Ramallah on Wednesday that the war between Hizbullah and Israel should not divert world attention from the plight of the Palestinian people.
Abbas updated Annan on efforts to form a unity government to end the chaotic situation in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and on efforts to secure the release of Corporal Gilad Shalit. (Ali Waked)
