Media mogul Rupert Murdoch buys Channel 10 stock
Global media executive and top shareholder, chairman and managing director of News Corporation purchases 9 percent of Channel 10
The international news corporation News Corp., headed by billionaire Rupert Murdoch, has decided to purchase nine percent of Channel 10, through its daughter company News Corp. Europe.
In the purchase of Channel 10, News Corp. joins other foreign stock holders Ron Lauder and Aaron Milchin, who prior to the deal each own 24.5 percent of the company stocks.
According to the laws of the broadcast authority, foreign ownership is limited to up to 49 percent of stocks. The remain stocks are held by businessman Yossi Meimon.
Murdoch’s purchase will thus proportionally weaken Lauder’s and Milchin’s ownership, while Meimon will continue to have control of the media company.
News Corp. Europe is part of the World News Corporation, which develops and manages the investments of News Corp. in eastern and central Europe and former Soviet Union nations.
News Corp. owns stock in TV stations in Bulgaria, Poland and Serbia, and will also purchase stocks in Turkey, Georgia and Israel.
