Iranian paper: Israel, US wrote Pope's speech
An editorial in the Iranian newspaper "Jomhoria Islami" accused Israel and the United States of writing the speech for Pope Benedict XVI which angered many Muslims worldwide.
The editor of the paper, which is thought to be associated with the Iranian spiritual leader Ayatollah Khamenei, claimed that Israel and the US are looking to divert the international public opinion from "the defeat of the Zionist army against Hizbullah in the war in Lebanon." (Dudi Cohen)
