Nablus: Fatah member killed by IDF fire

Palestinian sources in Nablus informed Ynet early Sunday that a member of the al-Aqsa Martyrs' Brigades, Fatah's military wing, was killed by Israel Defense Forces soldiers in exchanges of fire between Palestinian gunmen and IDF forces in the Balata refugee camp.

 

According to the report, several Palestinian gunmen were lightly wounded.

 

IDF officials reported that Palestinian gunmen opened fire and hurled explosive devices at a paratrooper force operating in the Balata refugee camp in Nablus. According to the report, the soldiers fired back at the Palestinians and killed a Fatah gunman.

 

There were no injuries among the soldiers and no reports of damage.

 

Over the night, IDF soldiers arrested two wanted Fatah members. One of the terror suspects was detained in Salem, east of Nablus, and the other one was detained during an IDF operation in Tulkarm.

 

Daily operations

Meanwhile, Palestinians reported that the IDF has recently been operating in the refugee camp on an almost daily basis.

 

On Saturday, it was reported that Palestinians hurled an explosive device at soldiers operating in the refugee camp, and in another incident, Palestinians opened fire at the forces, but there were no reports of injuries or damage.

 

Also Saturday, IDF soldiers shot and hit a Palestinian was apparently trying to place an explosive device near the separation fence, west of Jenin. IDF officials reported that the forces spotted four Palestinians trying to activate an explosive device against the soldiers.

 

A force dispatched to the area opened fire at them and identified a hit. It was also reported that while patrolling the area, the force uncovered another 25-kilogram (55-pound) explosive device, which was detonated in a controlled manner.
