Lebanon: Israel greater nuclear threat than N. Korea
Lebanese parliament speaker claims international community overestimating North Korean nuclear threat, says 'Lebanon's problem much more urgent'
Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri attempted Wednesday to harness international opinion against the nuclear tests conducted in North Korea in a struggle against Israel.
In a meeting with Iranian parliament members Berri said, “In this context the issue of Israel’s nuclear threat should also be raised.”
According to Iran’s official news agency, Berri said, “Israel’s nuclear weapons threat is greater than that of North Korea’s nuclear tests. The Lebanese issue is more urgent than the North Korean issue.”
Members of the Iranian envoy arrived in Lebanon in order to offer Berri aid in rehabilitating Lebanon. One of the members, Hemshet-Ila Pelahet-Fisha said, “The extent of the Zionist regime’s attacks during 33 days of war was unprecedented.”
Pelahet-Fisha also said, “Western countries are trying to take the Lebanese issue off the table using the excuse that North Korea conducted nuclear tests, but Islamic countries must prevent that.”
In the meantime, a Hizbullah representative in Tehran, Abdullah Seif al-Din, said Wednesday, “Those who think it’s possible to live by Iraq are wrong. That is something that is always true, and is even written in the Quran.”
In a convention supporting Hizbullah, Seif al-Din added, “Anyone who has a drop of faith must do everything to destroy the Zionist regime. The Jerusalem issue is a serious one, and everyone wants to be free, but there is no other way but to destroy the devil, meaning the Zionist regime.”
“Unfortunately, some Muslims still say ‘we are too weak against that regime’, but despite what our enemies and the Zionists think, the Zionist regime is on its way to destruction. They didn’t gain reach any goal in the Lebanon war other than killing innocent people, women, and children.”
