Israeli made partner at Goldman Sachs

Orit Freedman, director of Israeli business at leading US based global investment bank made highest ranking Israeli woman on Wall Street

Orit Freedman, director of Israeli business at global investment giant Goldman Sachs has been made partner at the bank, thus becoming the highest ranking Israeli woman in Wall Street

Freedman began working at Goldman Sachs in 1993, working in the field of mergers and acquisitions. Several years later she was asked to establish and head the Israel desk. In 2002 she moved to the Goldman Sachs health care group and later returned to the helm of the Israeli desk in 2005.

The selection process for new partners at Goldman Sachs can take over seven months. Freedman is the first Israeli to be made partner in the company and will continue to head the Israeli desk.

Goldman Sachs commented on the decision, saying that "The decision to choose an Israeli into such a senior position at Goldman Sachs is testament to the might and importance of the Israeli economy in its relation to Goldman Sachs and expresses the strengthening of ties between the company and the Israeli market." Goldman Sachs does not have a branch in Israel and all activity is based in New York.
