IDF 'Footprints in the Sand' in Khan Younis that left two gunmen dead is leading to frightening repercussions from Palestinian organizations. Spokesman for the Palestinian Resistance Committees Abu Abir warned of "tunnel bombings, rocket attacks, and suicide attacks in Gaza, West Bank and the depth of Zionist territory."

In the last month, the IDF intensified operations in the Khan Younis area in order to locate wanted operatives and weapons smuggling tunnels. Many Palestinian operatives were killed, as well as a number of civilians.

The various Palestinian organizations did not respond with significant retaliatory actions against Israel, citing Ramadan among other reasons. Now, however, they promise "a harsh and painful revenge."

Reserves battalion commander Lt. Col. (res) Omri Bar-David told Ynet: "We executed our mission under unceasing fire. It seems that the terrorists were motivated, but we knew how to operate correctly and reach our objectives."

The operation, which lasted all through Wednesday night and well into Thursday, utilized the reserves battalion, as well as armored corps forces.

'Israel interpreted calm incorrectly'

The PRC spokesman said that "it seems that the Israeli enemy incorrectly interpreted the recent relative calm that we imposed on ourselves. It seems that he interpreted this as weakness and inability, but in the upcoming period the Palestinian resistance will prove that it only got stronger and that this was the quiet before the storm."

According to Abu Abir, "the Palestinian resistance is expected to begin a broad range of attacks against Israel, who has withdrawn its forces from the Khan Younis area. We will respond with full force and prove to the enemy that we control when to be calm and when to respond."

Abu Abir promised that all IDF operations in Gaza will transform the region into "a large graveyard for Israeli soldiers. We're waiting for the moment that they decide to enter Gaza because we've prepared for this moment."

And what about the political situation with the Gaza Strip? He claims that the Palestinian government will not crumble under any circumstances: "No Israeli action will topple this government or subdue Palestinian resistance."
